The Wieliczka Salt Mine has been mined since the XIII century and it’s one of the oldest salt mines in the world. It was exploited for 9 centuries to became nowadays one of the most wanted and worth to see place in Krakow area. This “underground city” consist of nine levels with more than 300 kilometers of corridors. In 1978 UNESCO has entered the Wieliczka Salt Mine on the World List of Cultural and Natural Heritage. There is about 1,2 milion visitors each year.
